Meet Our New Team Member, Anna

Note from the Founder:

I hope you are enjoying much needed time with your loved ones and I am praying that you remain in good health and continue to prosper.

In the midst of everything that is happening in the world around us, Dare Humanity is making strides towards strengthening our work.

Part of our next steps include restructuring our team so that we can better serve our communities in Haiti. We will be accepting applications for members of the Board of Directors and Advisory Board until April 15th. Creative, diverse, and skilled individuals who have a heart to serve are encouraged to apply.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to one of our new team members, Anna Tait. She is joining our team as a Fundraising Intern. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Anna for about six months now through the Alumni Mentor Program through the University of San Francisco (USF). Anna is currently studying a Masters in Nonprofit Administration at the university while running track and cross country. She is a runner and competes in the 1500m, 5000m and 6km cross country. Anna is also a senior member of the USF track and cross country team. Check out this video of Anna from USF.

Anna was born and raised in the Orkney Islands off the North East coast of Scotland. She graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in July 2019 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry.

“I thrived in Glasgow, enjoying the academic and clinical application of my degree.”

She was involved in the university athletics club, podiatry society and worked part-time in a running footwear store.

“I was delighted when I received an athletic scholarship to study in San Francisco and I am very grateful for the opportunities and friendships the move across the pond has brought so far.”

Anna is passionate about holistic wellbeing and desires to be part of communities that encourage and prioritize holistic wellbeing.

“I'm a feminist and surround myself with those who advocate for equal opportunities for women.”

Anna strives to inspire and empower women of all ages, but particularly her younger teammates. She is motivated to improve the lives of others and she plans to use her experience to pursue a career in improving community health and wellbeing.

“I want to improve the effectiveness of collective impact efforts between sectors to improve access to health and social care services within disadvantaged communities.”

The values of Dare Humanity - Community, Empowerment and Leadership - stuck out to Anna because of her background and involvement in her community.

“I was fortunate to be raised in a small and prosperous Island community where I attended our local schools, played sports and spent lots of time outside. The support of my home community was integral in my ability to gain opportunities in education and sport.”

Anna is delighted to have the opportunity to join the team at Dare Humanity. She hopes to put the fundraising knowledge she has learned this academic year into practice and contribute to the development of effective and sustainable fundraising campaigns for upcoming months and beyond.

I want to invite you to join us in welcoming Anna to our team at Dare Humanity! We are grateful to have her join our growing team and we look forward to what we can accomplish together in the months to come.
